Actors Showcases

Don't feel disheartened and demotivated by what can seem like a lack of opportunity in an increasingly overcrowded industry. Take your career into your own hands and get seen by the people that can get you work!

We have been producing actors showcases since 2006.

We only do 4 a year (2 in the Autumn, 2 in the Spring). This ensures we maintain a consistently high standard and for that reason we have built a reputation for quality.

What we do

Auditions, scene selection and rehearsal

We audition to find 20 actors (ideally 10 male, 10 female) to perform 10 duologues of 4-5 minutes each. We perform all duologues rather than monologues because in our experience casting directors and agents prefer to see you interacting with another performer.

Once we have held auditions and selected a company of diverse and interesting actors, we meet as a company to partner up and choose scenes. We try to make this process as organic as possible. Each actor brings a choice of at least 3 duologues that interest them and we hold a speed-reading session in which we experiment with different partners and scenes. As far as possible actors choose their own partners and scenes from this reading. Don't worry if you are completely stuck, we will of course assist. We also have a vast range of duologues should you be struggling to find anything appropriate.

After this workshop, you will attend a business workshop, which is run as a group seminar, coaching you on how to sell yourself as an actor and get the most out of the showcase experience. After a 4 hour group session, we then provide an individual 1:1 for each actor.

Once this process is complete, a professional director will rehearse your piece with you at a central london venue. You have 2 rehearsals with him over 2 weekends.

6-8 weeks before the showcase we will send out a 'save the date' e-mailout to 700 industry personnel, incorporating agents, casting directors, producers, directors and writers.

4 weeks before the showcase official invites are sent out with a flyer containing all the actors headshots. This mailout covers over 500 industry professionals.

1 week before the showcase we will do a further e-mailout as a reminder.

We fully utilise social media, forging links with industry personnel and creating a buzz around each actor for the 4 week lead-in to the showcase date. We encourage all our actors to get involved in this.

Your headshot and a link to your spotlight CV will be on our website for agents and casting directors to view.

We will provide you with flyer invitations to include in your personal letters

Your CV, photograph and contact details will appear in the showcase programme

The show

You'll have a tech/dress, 2 lunchtime performances and 1 evening performance at the Leicester Square Theatre, London

The showcase will run at 45-50mins, particularly useful for industry personnel attending in their lunch hour.

We'll serve champagne and nibbles to the showcase attendees

After the showcase

We'll email you a list of attendees, and (where they've authorised it) their contact details

We'll send you a link to your filmed scene, recorded by a professional filmmaker during one of the showcase performances. You can use this to evaluate your work as well as to send to casting directors you have invited who may not have been able to attend.

The showcase costs £275. This payment covers all expenses: hire of Leicester Square Theatre, hire of rehearsal space, director's fee, flyer designer's fee, flyer printing, flyer distribution (i.e. envelope and postage costs), programme printing costs, champagne and nibbles for industry guests on the day, plus many hours of support from the team at RC.

Why do a reduced circumstances showcase?

We give you the opportunity to perform in a prestigious central London theatre and be seen by key industry professionals.

We have built a strong reputation in the industry having produced over 30 showcases over the last 10 years. This means we always have a strong company of actors participating, which encourages an excellent level of attendance from industry personnel.

We coach you on who to target and how to target them, giving you invaluable advice on your casting type and how to sell yourself, (including CV, headshot, showreel and cover letter evaluation). This gives you crucial skills which you can take forward to develop your career whatever the outcome of the showcase itself.

We have had a very high success rate in the past with many participants getting representation, castings and even direct work from the showcase.

It is a fabulous opportunity to meet and work with other actors and an excellent director to broaden your network of contacts.

We create a good company vibe that is conducive to creativity and can help boost your confidence so you feel like you are being proactive about your career.

You'll have fun!
