Interested in a career in theatre? Reduced Circumstances have a variety of internships available

Reduced Circumstances currently have several exciting opportunities for people who are interested in a career in theatre and would like to develop their skills and understanding of the various aspects of theatre production and administration and gain some invaluable hands-on experience.

No previous qualifications or experience are necessary (although if you have them, that’s obviously a bonus!), and we welcome people from all backgrounds, disciplines and abilities. We are looking for are people with a strong interest in theatre, who are not afraid of hard work, can use their initiative, work well in a team, and keep a sense of humour under pressure!  

Our internships cover work in the following departments:

1. Arts Administration – supporting the production team by handling a range of administrative tasks, supporting production, marketing, funding and education departments, using all programs within the Microsoft office suite and handling enquiries via phone and email.

2. Education/Outreach – supporting RC to develop and deliver their new education and outreach programme, liaising with schools and colleges, developing workshops, communicating information between schools and colleges and relevant members of the team, assisting with events, completing research, developing ties within the community, and handling enquiries via phone and email.

3. Funding – helping RC to raise crucial funds by building relationships with donors, holding fundraising galas, seeking corporate sponsorship and applying to trusts and foundations. Being a theatre company without subsidy, this work is vital to achieving our ambitious plans.

4. Press and Marketing – supporting RC’s PR and marketing officers to plan and implement a marketing strategy for each of RC's productions. The role involves handling a range of administrative tasks including organising photo-shoots; submitting listings; researching advertising opportunities, updating social media; liaising with a variety of external agencies and organisations and handling general enquiries via e-mail and phone.  

*Please note that all of our internships are voluntary, although we will cover your travel expenses. We would ask you to commit a minimum of 16 hours a week for at least 6 weeks. Where possible we will try to be flexible about hours to accomodate other paid work you may have but we would ask you to be as flexible as possible in order to work around our various projects.
